Changes have to be made to pave way for the new eating lifestyle that you are about to embrace. And these changes are not exclusive to your eating preference nor is it exclusive to yourself. First, and seemingly the most obvious change that you have to make is to change your diet. Since meat has totally lost its place on your table, then you have to go shop for recipes and new ways of preparing your meal, just make sure you have a substitute for protein and other nutrients that you get from eating meat. Well, the transition from being a meat eater to being a vegetarian does not have to happen overnight. You have to give your body some time to adjust to the changes you have imposed on it.If you're living with meat eaters, and they do not want to join you in your vegan ways, then that's the second change that not only you have to make but also them. It does not mean however that they have to eat less meat, but they have to make adjustments now that they have a vegetarian in the house. Adjustments like accommodating you in meal preparations and perhaps in keeping you from salivating from meat while you are in your transition period. This definitely takes some relationship building and a sense of co-existence to work, and eventually have a peaceful dining experience.
Whether you are into vegetarianism for the health benefits or for a spiritual quest, one thing is for sure. You are not in it alone. This is one other change that is going to take place in your life, and perhaps the most delightful of all. In your journey towards the vegan way of life you will meet a number of vegetarians that will join you and give you their support and help. You might just find yourself having the support and help that you wanted from your friends and loved ones.
Being a vegetarian isn't only about losing a major food group in your diet, it is also about gaining; gaining support from family and friends; and most importantly gaining a whole new healthy life.***
